Wacky Faces!

An exhibition of textile portraits by parents from Brinnington at First House

Sylvia Exhibition

Arc is proud to announce a new and very different exhibition at First House in Brinnington. It will feature 12 large textile flags, each containing a stunning and quirky brightly coloured self-portrait produced by parents from the Pearl scheme at Brinnington Childrens Centre.

Pearl offers structured creative art activities to help mums’ wellbeing. It aims to address issues to do with post-natal depression but also mild mental health issues which can affect not only the mother but the whole family.

“It helps me to cope with family pressures,” one mum says. “A couple of hours peace makes all the difference. It’s something to do for yourself. I’m really chuffed with my work and I can’t wait to take it home and put it on the wall.”

The preview of ‘Wacky Faces’ takes place in the Library at First House, 367 Brinnington Road, Stockport SK5 8EN on Thursday 24th May between 4 & 7pm – all are welcome to this. The exhibition is then open to the public on Friday 25th May 10 – 5 and Saturday 26th May 10 – 3.

Hold

An exhibition of art by women from HMP/YOI Styal

Arc is proud to announce ‘Hold’ a substantial new exhibition of artwork produced by women from HMP/ YOI Styal – the fruits of an important year-long residency by the Arts charity within Styal.

Thanks to a grant from the Saint Sarkis trust, Arc artist Charlotte Brown has worked with more than 70 women at Styal.

Now a selection of textile banners, photographs, handmade books and papier mache birds will feature at the exhibition, entitled ‘Hold’, at Vernon Park Museum and Art Gallery in Stockport.

‘Hold’ previews at Vernon Park Museum, Turncroft Lane, Offerton, Stockport SK1 4AR on Tuesday 15th May 2- 4pm and is then open until June 10th.
